I took over an MFiles installation. It appears that none of the maintenance has been done in the ~10 years they have had MFiles. Running SQL edition with the files on disk. This weekend I took the two smallest vaults and ran the "Optimize Database (Thorough)" in order to clear off any items destroyed. These went very quick on the two small vaults. I then took one of the vaults and ran the "Verify and Repair (Quick)" as recommended before going through the "Thorough" process in the future. I was also doing this as a test before I tackle the main vault, which is massive in comparison to these...
Started the Verify and Repair (Quick) on the vault. It went through steps 1,2,3, fairly quick and then got to step 4 which is something like "Verifying physical files" (sorry forgot to get a screen grab of the exact wording). This went on forever. Every now and again the bar would fill green real quick, and then continue sitting on step 4. Resource monitor looks like things were going so I just left it sit. Checked it this morning and it had failed at midnight when the scheduled SQL database backups took place and took the vault offline.
My questions:
1. Should (Quick) be taking days to complete even on small vaults?
2. Since it failed, if I start it up again (backups happen every night) will it continue where it left off or start all over again?
3. Is there any insight into what it is doing, how many files to process, etc?
4. Could I make a suggestion that the status window have a count of files to process and maybe the number of file it is on?
I'd like to keep these vaults in good condition, but our main vault is by far and away larger than these small ones. I can't take it offline for several days for it to complete a "Thorough" check...
