In our ongoing dedication to constant enhancement and ensuring optimal performance of our solution, we're thrilled to unveil the latest round of product updates.
On top of regular new features, the June 2025 update brings in another important capability to help our customers switch over to the new M-Files Desktop: Assisted RPC to gRPC migration. The new M-Files Desktop is the main focus for all new future features and the recommended client going forward. However, switching over requires the use of gRPC protocol. Our cloud offering has gRPC enabled by default, but for on-premises customers, certain actions must be taken to make the switch and this new capability makes the migration of the clients a whole lot easier. Please read How to Switch to the New M-Files Desktop to help assess your environment and to find instructions for configuration.
New Features and Enhancement highlights:
- New M-Files Desktop and Web: Visual Workflows. A refreshed, more visual workflow experience in the Metadata Card designed to enhance situational awareness and support more informed decision-making.
- New M-Files Desktop: Global Search. The M-Files Desktop Home Screen now has the capability to search for content from all vault the user is logged in.
- New M-Files Desktop: Co-authoring improvements
- Capability to co-author existing Office Documents
- Support for co-authoring multi-file documents
- Capability to replace an Office document without data loss
Feature parity additions. Enabling customers to make the switch to new Desktop:
- New M-Files Desktop and Web: M-Files URL improvements.
- Open view and edit specified document in Web via links
- Support for search links
- Property-based search in Web and Desktop via Links
- External ID support for objects in grouping levels
