Dear Customers,
In our ongoing dedication to constant enhancement and ensuring optimal performance of our solution, we're thrilled to unveil the latest round of product updates.
Upgrading to the new M-Files Desktop experience
The new M-Files Desktop is the primary focus for all future features and is the recommended client moving forward. Transitioning requires the use of the gRPC protocol. While gRPC is enabled by default in our cloud offering, on-premises customers need to take certain steps to enable it. Please read How to transition to the new M-Files Desktop to help assess your environment and to find easiest path to transition.
Please notice that SAML2.0 support is now completely removed from the codebase. Please ensure you are using supported authentication methods before updating.
New Features and Enhancement highlights to new M-Files Desktop and Web:
- View conflict resolution history in new clients: Administrators can now view and manage the history of automatically resolved conflicts directly in the new M-Files clients. This makes it easier to review, restore, or manage conflict items, ensuring a smoother experience when handling replicated data.
- Undo checkout from any client: You can now undo the checkout of your own documents from any M-Files client, such as Web or Desktop, without switching back to the original client. A clear confirmation dialog appears if the checkout was made from a different client, helping prevent accidental data loss.

- SAML authentication support removed: Support for SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) authentication has been fully removed from M‑Files. SAML was deprecated in 2020 and is no longer available.
- For a complete list, please see Release Notes.
