Disable new feature "simplified navigation"? (double-clicking non-document object)

It is configurable in that you can choose the relationships that are browsed when the object is double-clicked.  You cannot, at this time, configure the old behaviour.

We are looking at making some additional changes to this feature and your feedback will be fed into that process.

Thanks Craig, it would be nice if the 'old behavior' was an option - I know we have the options of the side bar or 'open in new window' on the metadata card ribbon but users have to navigate to these options (albeit milliseconds, but many milliseconds can turn into minutes in the workday). I see it as adding just an extra layer of inconvenience.

I do understand.  Do note that the keyboard shortcut (alt-enter) will still pop open the metadata card as well; this has not been altered.

Can I ask what the use-case is here?  Why do the users pop the metadata card instead of using it on the right-hand-side?

Keyboard shortcut is good to know, very useful

Our users do prefer to use metadata card on right hand side, but often they are using small-screen (low-resolution) laptops or are continuously moving their laptop from docking station that distorts pre-set resolution. So they end up with a very 'condensed' view of metadata card.
