Permissions at Document Level

If I set permission at the document level, does this overrule the Class Permission?

For Example, Class 'First' has permissions for Group A to edit.

Then at the document level, I selected a specific document in Class 'First' to be read only for Group A.

Will group A be able to edit the document?  Will Group A be able to put the document in a workflow?

  • Effective permissions are a combination of all your permission settings. You can think of permissions as layers: the user must get rights through all the layers (the document's own permissions and the automatic permissions from the class), so if they have read-only rights from the document level they won't be able to edit it.

    Example to illustrate:

It should be easy to test this, you can check the effective permissions from the client and see what rights each user has.
