Optimize Database (Thorough) - SQL

From what I have learned it is necessary to run Verify & Repair Thorough to release disk space from destroyed objects. This will take the database offline. I would advise against automation unless you are absolutely certain that you have a service window available at regular intervals to do so. And I am not sure that can be done at all unless you can find a way run a scheduled activity in Windows and use the API to start the process. I have only found the VerifyVault method in documentation, and I don't think it will do a thorough repair.

I didn't know that, so thank you for that info. Maybe the best thing is to run both jobs, just to be sure

If I recall right, V&R does NOT take the vault offline but Optimize DB (Throrough) does. 

The actual dumping of the destroyed objects, in SQL Server based document vault, releases space from the hard drive. 

However, we do not recommend using these that often as the hard drive space nowadays should not be a showstopping cost issue.
