New Desktop UI Release 2022

Please use this thread for any questions or feedback regarding the new Desktop UI Refresh.

  • Download this file: New User Interface Preview
  • Download this file for the Full Installation: New User Interface Preview - Full M-Files Installation
    • This .zip package contains:
      • Setup file for installing the client
      • Two scripts (NewDesktop.bat & DefaultDesktop.bat) - one for taking the new Desktop UI into use, and another one to take it off
      • Simple instructions for installing the client and for running the scripts
      • Some changes are not available in the preview, but will be available in the November release.

  • New UI interface seams pretty but in terms of productivity and optimization it fails, don't have the possibility to see the metadata card on the bottom pane, gives to the users a lost of time and productivity more clicks, more time to complete tasks I don't believe that was missed out.

    Hi, have you tried to open the metadata card into a new window (Alt+Enter)? In the new window, it is possible to see the metadata card and preview side by side. It is also possible to get the metadata card window to reopen dynamically when another object is selected from the listing. To do this, the following setting needs to be changed from the MfAdmin client:

    Configurations > Advanced Vault Settings > Configuration > Client > Desktop > Metadata card > Allow Single Metadata Card Popup Only = 'Yes'

    We appreciate your feedback! Is there any other specific things that you think lowers productivity compared to the old UI? Or are you referring to the four panes Home view that is no longer there?

    Hi Samuli, with multi-file this solution does not work, even if we have a default pdf file set for preview. Is there a workaround for this also?

    Samuli, thank you for your information, your sugestion is an workaround that works fine for a non daily user, but please don't forgot to fix it, adding the feature or even the possibility to use the same layout than in the Web Client, that is great now.
