Please use pictures in documentation throughout

Is this feedback more of user guide specific, or for the customer support knowledge article specific? 

Agreed, but also a word of caution: The user interface chances over time. A screenshot may become obsolete after a while. If used, it will have do be updated whenever a major change in the user interface is launched. This can become a very large challenge over time.

user guide would be my priority.

that's true but should not be a reason to abandon them :-)

good and easy to follow documentation is crucial for adoption.
New features that can't be implemented easily because of hard to follow documentation will waste much of the effort you invested in creating them.
Better documentation will make users use more if our features and stregthen their connection to M-Files.

That seems quite a good invest to me.
