Adding a document from a template to a multi-file document in a workflow

I'd like to add a document from a document template to a multi-file document in a workflow. Is that possible?

It is very complex task for an end user to do this manually. I mean you should have the template and multi-file document visible on the same view at the same time to be able to perform drag and drop operation.

  • Could you describe the use case in more detail? Is it always the same document template file that gets added to the multi-file document in this workflow or should the user be able to select the correct template? When you say "document template", do you mean M-Files document templates (Is Template = Yes) or just a boilerplate document that is not marked as a template in M-Files?

    If the system knows which file to add (e.g. it's always the same document object that is used in this workflow) then I think this could be done with scripting in the workflow state. If the user should be presented with a list of document templates then this get more complicated as there's no way to display a dialog to the user in a workflow state as far as I know.
