You can choose to receive notifications in the platform (live alerts), via email, or both. To make this selection, go to your settings by clicking on your icon/avatar and then settings.
Options
The first few items on the Options tab relate to your email notifications.
- Email address. This is the email address that will be used whenever the M-Files Community sends you an email.
- Enable email content. If you uncheck this box, you will not receive any email from the M-Files Community, even notifications.
- Enable HTML emails. If you check this box, email messages will be sent in HTML format, including links and media.
Subscriptions
The subscriptions tab shows you a list of all applications (a blog, a forum, a calendar, etc.) to which you've subscribed. You can use this list to unsubscribe by clicking unsubscribe on the right.
To subscribe to an application, navigate to it and then click the turn notifications on button on the right. You may find this button as a small banner, or it may be accessible by clicking the settings gear.
You can also subscribe to individual forum threads by clicking more and then turn notifications on. Keep in mind that your subscriptions to individual threads will not appear on your subscriptions tab in your settings.
Notifications
While subscriptions allow you to choose what to follow, notifications determine how you follow. You can receive notifications in the platform (live alerts), via email, or both. Enabled notifications will also appear as a number in the site banner.
If you subscribe to an application but then turn off the notification types that subscription uses, the site banner is the only place where you will receive any kind of notification.
